Lama Chodpa is 100% pure natural Tibetan incense.

Lama Chodpa means making the most excellent possible offering to supreme, holy beings. From the Tibetan perspective, the finest incense is full of medicinal plants, having healing qualities, giving rise to good health and relief.

Lama Chodpa Incense are natural, artisan, organic, and 100% free of chemicals, pesticides or additives. It is grown, blessed and handmade at the Monastery. Lama Chodpa Incense is hand-prepared specifically to the instructions of ancient Tibetan monastic manuscripts. It is made from 31 medicinal herbs and other natural precious substances that lend the incense a blissful touch.

Handcrafted in the Himalayan foothills, Tibetan tradition is strictly adhered to during the process by:

  • Gathering the purest possible ingredients,
  • Meeting precise herbal portions mandated by an ancient Tibetan recipe,
  • Using the mortar-and-pestle artisan process,
  • Carefully drying and hand-blending the ground ingredients,
  • Sun-drying and then hand-packing into protective tubing,
  • Screen-printing on handmade paper and wax sealing by hand,
  • Using the Tashi Jong Happy Valley auspicious sign Seal

The life process of nature and the local ecology is constantly kept in the highest regard in all decisions from sustainable harvesting through the final stages of production. There is no ecological damage or depletion associated with the production of our incense.

All ingredients are blessed; one ingredient, however, is the object of a 9 days blessing ceremony for 12 hours a day by 200 monks. After the 9 days blessing, it is placed in a Dharma protector room to be blessed once a day for an entire year by a meditation master before being used in the incense.

There are four formulas and scents of the incense, each with their own intentions…

Meditation Incense

Helps to calm and soothe the mind and body and acts in a way stimulating to the meditative consciousness while fostering a spiritual connection.

Relaxation Incense

Helps to relieve tension and frees the mind from depression while refreshing the local environment where it is used. It has been used to help with insomnia, anxiety, and stress.

Clean Environment

Cleans and purifies the inner channels and helps to remove external impurities thereby refreshing the mind body and spirit. It prevents the spread of certain viral diseases and is used to remove in-auspiciousness, dispelling negative energies.

Essence of Flower

This incense is traditionally used during puja, ceremonies, ritual or prayers and represents the essence of sacred divine union. Just as the fine fragrance of blooming flowers, it brings peace and happiness into life.

1. Visualization:
Visualize in front of you the blessed one, surrounded by a host of sublime beings. They are to be seen transparent, non-substantial, as if made out of non-physical light. Inspiring compassion, all their transcendent qualities are manifested, helping to attain enlightenment. Experience a deep feeling of connection with them.

2. Self purification:
Hold the burning incense and move it in a clockwise direction three times. Feel you are thoroughly purified from all disturbing emotions and negative imprints of your mind.

3. Requesting blessings:
Hold the burning incense and move it in a clockwise direction three times. Feel as if you are receiving blessings that shower wisdom.

4. Indivisible union:
Hold the burning incense and move it in a clockwise direction three times. Feel the sublime being in front of you melt into light. This light in turn dissolves into you. The blessed one’s mind and your mind become inseparable, like water poured on water.

5. Dedication:
Dedicate all the merits that have been developed through this practice to the temporary benefit and ultimate enlightenment of all beings.

Or, if you prefer, just light the incense with a good heart.
